Impulse by the Sea started 23 years ago by husband and wife team Neville and Shamen Reddi. Like most Indian families, their mothers took great pride in preparing wholesome, traditional food ensuring everyone’s tastes were catered for as variety was the spice of their lives. Fathers and children were their greatest critics-so there were no shortcuts. Almost all their activities were around lots of home-cooked food. It is this love affair with their “Pukka” Natal Indian curries from age-old family recipes, that is the foundation of Impulse by the sea.
Priding themselves on serving the original “pukka” Natal curry – unadulterated & combined with warm hospitality, in a comfortable and tranquil setting with great sea views, service and personal attention. Impulse by the Sea still maintains a hands on approach from the kitchen to the tables to ensure that guests receive the very best. Their most popular curries range from their signature prawn curry, lamb, fish, crab & vegetarian curries - with rotis, papads, pickles and of course samoosas – they never failed to please.
Non-currry eaters are adequately catered for & a kids menu is always available. They have had pleasure of hosting many high profile guests from all over the world as well as our loyal locals and their prawn curry was given the pole position by our own famous John & Erica Platter, & was recently voted “ The taste of the Dolphin coast’’ by the readers of the North coast courier.
